~Image and Print Info~

I’ve spent years and a few grand testing paper a printing techniques, and although I’ll always be searching for “better,” for the first time in my years of photographing I am finally happy with the way the prints look.

You see, I never liked traditional photo prints all that much. I’ve always preferred the look of a fine art print (silkscreen, etching, etc.). The mat surface of fine print making paper combined with ink — as opposed to the hard surface and chemical dyes used in most traditional photo paper — tend to draw you into the print.

To my eyes, prints on fine art papers simply have a richer look, plus, they don’t have any glare!

Until the evolution of ink jet printers into precision print making machines, photographers were stuck with the traditional chemical printing methods. To add insult to injury, these types of prints didn’t last very long either.

This is actually very sad news as much of our color photos and movie history is going, going, gone. The Smithsonian is doing what it can to save the really important stuff, but there’s a huge amount of material that will be lost forever.

All my display Pure Design Photography prints are produced with archival pigmented inks on acid-free fine art paper devoid of optical brighteners. What that means is, not only is the print quality at the highest level, but they will also last for generations if properly cared for (like, don’t drive over them with a fork lift!).

Prints are available in a variety of sizes and styles...

The Collector’s Print
the ultimate print

When it comes to quality and longevity, this is the ultimate print — archival pigmented inks on acid-free fine art cotton rag paper.

To my eyes, prints on fine art cotton paper have a richer look. And if you’ve not had the experience, fine art cotton rag paper is simply a joy to hold — it just oozes value and quality.

The cotton rag paper I use for printing is the finest currently available.

What that means is, not only is the print quality at the highest level, but they will also last for generations if properly cared for (like, don’t drive over them with a fork lift!).

The Canvas Print
the “glassless” alternative

I’ve actually been on a bit of an anti-glass campaign here at The Farrm (my wife Pam and I live on an old farm, our name is Farr, so we call it “The Farrm”... get it?). Prints on canvas are the perfect “no glass” alternative — print quality is nearly as good as the collector prints, and with the special Jeff-O-Coat protection, the display life is right up there, too (independent testing indicates that this type of print with a UV coating may have a display life of greater than 200 years!).

But the real advantage of the canvas is vastly reduced glare compared to most glass used for framing, a closer “connection” with the artwork (there’s no barrier to get in the way!), and in most cases, greatly reduced framing costs.

All canvas prints are protected with
the amazing Jeff-O-Coat!

Jeff-O-Coat™ puts an armadillo-like casing on the print without changing the look of the print too much or adding much glare. It also adds UV protection to the print which can greatly extend the life of the print. Independent testing indicates that this type of print with a UV coating may have a display life of greater than 200 years.

Jeff-O-Coat™ is a hand-applied process. If you hold the print in just the right light, you may even see the brush strokes. This is one way you can tell it’s an authentic Jeff-O-Coat™ print!

Digitally Matted Prints and Frame Kits
the most versatile, most popular, and a great value!

OK, you really need to see these in person to get the full effect, but here’s the deal... these prints feature digital mats that are printed with the image.

While they aren’t “real” “matboard” mats, you can’t tell, even right up close. It’s pretty amazing and they have been a huge hit with everyone who’s seen them!

The digital mats have some interesting advantages, too. One is the ability to exactly match the mat to the print creating a whole that is greater than the parts. It’s sort of like matching the perfect wine with the perfect food. With the digital mats, the image can be enhanced in ways that just can’t be accomplished with ordinary mats.

The other advantage is cost of ownership. You can pop these right into an inexpensive ready-made 11x14 frame and they look great!

11x14 inch digitally matted print — includes the print with digital mat and backing board — only $47 each.

And speaking of frames...

I’ve created a special frame kit to go with the digitally matted images. The kit is includes a black metal frame, plexiglass, and all the hardware you need to assemble it. Assembly is easy, fast, and fun and you only need a screwdriver to get the job done! The Frame Kit includes everything you need to frame and hang your digitally matted print (except the wall!).

Frame Kit for 11x14 inch print — includes the frame, mounting clips, clear plexiglass, hanging wire, hook, and instructions — only $27 each.

The Decorator Print
the value alternative

These prints are great when you want to decorate a room, select your own matting and framing, and aren't concerned about ultimate longevity or collectibilty.

Printed on high quality paper, image quality is superb, and with proper care, they will last for decades.
